Three Cheers for the CARTeam!
By Leigh Dayton, 6 December 2021
When eight Cartherics women first teamed-up to walk or run 4km every day in November and raise funds to support women living with ovarian cancer, they set what they believed were achievable goals. The newly minted CARTeam would collectively move 120 km and raise $500.
They sorely misjudged their efforts. Despite upping their targets half-ways through the challenge, by month’s end the CARTeam had completed 1,177.41 km and raised $3,291.
The team’s effort was applauded by Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) Ambassador Heather Hawkins.
“Congratulations to each and every one of you on the CARTeam who took on the Workout 4 Women challenge to walk/run 4km every day in November in support of the 4 women diagnosed each day in Australia with Ovarian Cancer. Your commitment and care have truly shone through – inspirational!”
And thank you too for your amazing fundraising for Ovarian Cancer Australia, it will help to provide much-needed support and awareness, and to save women’s lives.”
As OCA notes, all funds raised from Workout 4 Women will assist in the delivery of evidence-based, accessible support and information, free of charge to Australians impacted by ovarian cancer.
Not only has OCA benefited from the CARTeam’s efforts, so too have its members.
Well done, everyone!! and thank you to all those that donated to our team.
Aleta Pupovac – It was absolutely fantastic to have a run in the sun ? and feel motivated to do so by contributing to such a wonderful campaign.
Alicia Mellors – It has been great clocking up the kms for such a great cause. To be able to support OCA with the CARTeam has been fun. Bring on 2022!
Karen Loudon – Thrilled with the commitment of the team and the generosity of the donations.
Maree Hammett – It was wonderful being part of the CARTeam for the W4W challenge. Fantastic team effort by one and all for achieving our step goal and the total funds raised. Thank you to all for the support.
Rachelle Duffin – I’d like to reiterate how proud I am of the team for smashing our distance and donation goals. I’m also very grateful for all of the generous people who donated. It was a great incentive to get moving and help raise funds for an admirable cause that aims to help women and their families combat an awful disease. I very much look forward to getting the team together again and raising money for more great causes in the future.
Rasa Islam – I do want to get more active and am very keen to contribute to ovarian cancer research. This was such a perfect opportunity.
Telma Mantas – What a month! I am really proud of our achievement as a team. I have enjoyed it so much that I will continue the 4k walk for as long as I can. Great job everyone.
Van To – It’s a great idea to get fit and fundraise all at once! It’s fun and non-comparative, but still makes people be aware of the event and cancer patients. Nothing compared to what cancer patients have gone through, but it’s a small thing I can help with.
